WEEKEND TRIPS

WEEKEND TRAIL OPTIONS

Trails listed as are for beginner to advanced paddlers. These trails vary in distance and may include areas that are difficult to navigate for first time paddlers. However, if your group is looking to explore the swamp for a weekend trip, then there's definitely a trail that meets your group abilities!

Did you know that Swamp Base offers weekend and mini paddling trips! These trips are designed to provide Scouts with an opportunity to experience the swamp during the fall, winter, and springtime, when water levels are different, the leaves are changing colors, temperatures are cooler, or when the nesting bird populations are at their peak. Please note that Swamp Base can provide a guide (for a $75/day fee) if needed for your trip.

Based on the nature of the activity, participation is limited to older Scouts. Groups must consist of at least 8 people and reservations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Minimum age for Scouts is 10.5 years old and they have to be a member of Scouts, BSA, Venturing or Sea Scouting.

Every trip is rated (Level 1 = easy, Level 2 = intermediate, and Level 3 = difficult), so that Scouts can pick the best paddling experience for their group. Multiple trails can be paddled during a weekend. Trips are rated based on a number of factors, including:

  • Paddling distance

  • Ease of navigation

  • Amount of open water paddling

  • Exposure to the sun
