Trash Removal
Littering and trash dumping is widespread across the Atchafalaya, with very few areas being unaffected by this problem. Trash can be found at public boat ramps, along roadways and even in remote swamps. Littering effects more than just the views of pristine wilderness, it also negatively effects water quality, can be harmful to wildlife, and has the ability to reduce visitation to the area, thus harming the economies of local communities. Scouts will remove thousands of pounds of trash from the swamp and also look for ways to stop the littering at the source.
