Trek 2 - Itinerary

Arrival Day
Arrive in Lafayette, LA at 2:00pm
Arrival Night 1 – Spent in Lafayette, LA at the Wingate by Wyndham hotel. Located at 702 E. Kaliste Saloom.
Program - Trek preparation/Gear orientation/Gear shakedown

Day 1
Paddling Environment: "Remnants"
Depart from trailhead at Grand River; Paddle 14.8 miles through the Upper Flat Area;
Night 2 – Hammocks & primitive camping along Upper Grand River at the Grand River Campsite

Day 2
Paddling Environment: "Oilfields"
Paddle 12.2 miles through Fork Bayou Pigeon to Berry Lake; 2,500' Green Mile Portage
Night 3 – Hammocks & primitive camping along Bayou Sorrel at the Bayou Sorrel Campsite

Day 3
Paddling Environment: "Swamps"
Paddle 16.9 miles through the cypress swamps of Cross Bayou and Blackwater Swamp
Night 4 – Hammocks & primitive camping along Turkey Bayou at the Paradise Campsite

Day 4
Paddling Environment: "Bayous"
Paddle 17.3 miles through Little Bayou Long, with great opportunities for viewing bald eagles
Night 5 – Hammocks & primitive camping in the Atchafalaya Wildlife Management Area

Day 5
Paddling Environment: "Lakes"
Paddle 13.8 miles through Duck Lake and Flat Lake; Exit Atchafalaya Swamp at Russo Landing trail end
Night spent in Lafayette, LA in Lafayette at the Wingate hotel
Program - Patch ceremony & final meal

Departure Day
Leave Lafayette for home. Check-out is by 9:00 am.

* Unlike other BSA High-Adventure camps, Swamp Base is not self-paced. In order to complete the Trek, crews must paddle the scheduled daily distances. Distances and Trek are subject to changes.
